They are supposed to notify me when/if it comes back in stock
thanks again!!!
You are welcome!
Either put your location in your profile so that it shows up so we know not to recommend you US products,
go find a forum that is UK/Europe centered,
Stop complaining about US prices on a US forum.
Even after we advise them to do so, they don't want to do it but then they will complain in the future that we use USD prices when comparing GPUs on a US-originated tech site. It's not as if we are asking them to put their home address online.
I dont think you understood what he was saying.
He meant that someone will ask about a specific GPU or between specific gpus, like what do you guys think about a tri X or this MSI 970, but then they get responses with totally and radically different gpus. They get responses nothing lot do with what they ask
That's a different topic, not related to U.S. prices. The main complaint was wrt to R9 290 deals not available in Europe or other countries so it's not applicable to recommend a 290 over 960/380 in that case.
On the point you raised, if someone is asking what's better to buy a Core i3 6100 or 6320, I will still say neither and advise to step up to the i5. Similarly stated, if someone started a thread on what's better a GTX960 or 380, I will also recommend neither of those. Why? Because some products are bad products and shouldn't be recommended unless there are special circumstances. That's what thinking outside the box is. Chances are someone who can't even decide on his own what GPU is better would want as much information as possible to aid in his choice in the first place; so providing more information, especially recommending a far superior product will help that individual even more. Also, based on reading the forums over time I have come to conclusion that a lot of people either ignore or do not understand the importance of the total cost of ownership of PC hardware. They only think about what their specific budget is and their brand preferences. This is a very elementary type of thinking. In other words if you have to buy a $200 budget GPU and then in 2 years yet another $200 GPU just to get the same performance a $250 GPU gives you today, you need to start thinking long-term because it can save you $ and provide a superior experience too over the entire ownership period of the hardware part. That's why a lot of gamers that ignore cost of ownership and just strictly focus on the budget are making financial mistakes that will be more costly long-term. Anyone who took economics, finance and accounting would know all of this.
This is exactly how marketing works. It tricks the human mind to not think logically. For example, programs like AT&T next or Apple's newly announced $32/month iPhone upgrade plan sound like a very cheap method to have a new phone over 2 years because it breaks down the total cost into smaller installments. But anyone who calculates the total cost of ownership and so on will be able to see through the marketing BS right away. Conversely, marketing tricks consumers to buy a more efficient vehicle like the Toyota Prius to save on fuel costs but if fuel cost was the primary motivator, buying a $10,000 cheaper Honda Fit or Honda Civic or Mazda 3 is better financially for most people than buying a more expensive Prius because it'll take 10-20+ years just to make up the $10,000 increased upfront cost on the more efficient Prius. Most consumers don't like to or were never taught to calculate the total cost of ownership or think of purchases from a proper financial point of view. They mostly think long-term only, and most purchases are primarily driven by emotions.
This thread is a perfect example of what you described. It's easy to recommend the GTX980 over 390X but in the grand scheme/overall context, both of those are overpriced/bad products to recommend so taking 2-steps ahead, recommending either of those products is just bad advice because we know 16nm HBM2 GPUs are coming in 2016 and that specifically for GTA V neither of those cards provides anything tangible over 390/290X/970 that warrants a massive 40-50% pricing premium.
