Oxide said there is no AMD optimized code but there is nVidia optimized code. I doubt AMD has done anything with the drivers to optimize it for DX11.
I'm always hearing how bad AMD DX11 drivers are but if you look at comparative benchmarks in reviews, which are all DX11, AMD does quite well. The 980ti and Titan X are the only cards that outperform AMD. And then it's not really by much most times.
That's a misquote, the statement was that there's no AMD vendor specific code. That reflects well on AMD (or how closely DX12 matches their architecture), but isn't the same thing.
Given how different GCN and Kepler/Maxwell are even code using general code (ie DX12 without vendor specific extensions) is going to perform differently on the different architectures depending on how it's structured/what features are used and so on - it's entirely possible to have code optimized for one vendor, but not be specific to it.
Is that what's happened here? Probably not, it just looks like nvidia's current generation DX11 performance is on par with DX12 anyway in this case.
