No, this is just wrong. If you dont use architecture specific optimizations then you will never tap the whole potential of the hardware.

The driver is doing less so most of the work must be done by the application.
Oxide did generic optimization and yet dx12 performance in this game is better for everyone. There is no need to 'tap whole potential' of gpu. Better than dx11 will do for the moment.

You can never perfectly optimize for every platform because it's too much work...the game is making generic optimizations and try to be as even-handed as possible. At the same time the company has also been atypically transparent with its code, sharing it with all of the GPU vendors so that they can see what’s going on under the hood and give feedback as necessary

It has all to do with resource binding.

@Samwell:
I watched that event 😉

long time lurker.. I learned right quick, just best to /ignore <edited> Snotin.
Only thing they are capable if is <edited> (reposting) power point slides (usually supplied by green team) even when pointed in right direction on numerous occasions..

you might want to edit your post quick, the usual trolls will report you very quickly. no matter how true your statement is, their job is to be fillers and muddled the pond so to speak. and you will get reported if you don't edit the D word out.

thanks.. fix't

What? Have you ever read nvidia's DX12 Do's And Don'ts ?

There are so many "Be aware", "consider" and "dont's" in Root Signature and Resources sections of that page so It's clear that this generation GeForce cards are limited in a matter of resources handling/resource binding.

Be aware of trolls. Consider they dont understand what they are talking about. Dont try to educate them, it is impossible.

Yep.Because of this :

Mahigan replied to him :

If He realized that he had committed an awful gaffe , He wouldn't reject your post. That's why I never reply to him.

You should go back and read again what i quoted: http://forums.anandtech.com/showpost.php?p=38101215&postcount=198
I even watched the 90min presentation on youtube from Microsoft about ressouce binding and they havent mentioned that putting ressources directly into the root signature for a speedup is a limitation of <Tier 3 hardware.

It would appear that all of the AMD GCN Grenada and Fiji cards are CPU bound for some reason. I look forward to seeing Rise of the Tomb Raider DX12 fixed.

I really enjoyed Tomb Raider 2013 but this game has been a huge disappointment in DX11 and DX12 especially considering how well the last game ran,It's been all crashes and huge frametime swings since I got 2-3 hours into the game ,dropping into the 30-40 fps range regardless of settings in certain areas. I bought the game day one and I'm still waiting for it to get fixed before I invest the time in it.
