I have a folder on my laptop I want to transfer to my desktop I have cat 5 ethernet cable, the microsoft wizard transfer doesn't work for some reason.

Any help?

Thanks.

Unless you have GigE NIC's or auto MDI/MDX 10/100 NIC's. The latter being fairly uncommon currently but I do believe they exist. I believe all Gigabit NIC's will make a X-over obsolete.

In Lieu of that, you could buy a switch. You'd need two ethernet cables and have to setup your IP's and file shares/permissions.
