Read everything before buying. I find it hard to recomend a Compaq to anyone. There is no tweak, and they have too many propriatary parts. For $599.99 you could shop around, but remember that this is after rebates (Real price $949.99).

It is sometimes hard to recommend a system to a "non PC builder." You have to shop hard to get the best for your bucks. What are you going to use it for?
 
no build your own with parts you know you can overclock. check hardware sites for advice on what parts to get. a good site to check is http://www.overclockers.com they have a database of users with overclocked machines. you can see how they did with certain parts.
