Computer won't work with case on

Recently helped someone build a new computer, 8800GT, High end Asus mobo, high end OCZ PSU, AMD 6400+, 4GB of RAM.

We've plugged it all together and got the BIOS to boot when everything is outside the case. But not when it's inside the case, the computer turns on, but nothing gets outputted to the monitor...

We got it to boot when outside the case, lowered it in very very carefully, screwed it in, got it to boot the BIOS. Plugged everything in like the hard drive, no output, fiddled around with the positioning of the way it's plugged in, no output unhooked all the extra cables we added, still no output to the screen.

We even doubled stacked the mounting screws for the mobo so it was twice as high and the GPU fit in perfectly, still no output.

Please, any help?!?

Start by confirming that the motherboard is being mounted on standoffs (sorry if that's way too obvious, but from your last sentence, it sounds like maybe it isn't).

"doubled stacked the mounting screws "........If that means you used 2 stand-offs per mounting hole, reduce it to one. Using 2 will misalign the i/o plate holes.

I would guess you need to go back to square one and put the mb back on the bench. Inspect it for cracks, scorch marks, bent pins, etc..

would need to see exactly how it's mounted, and verify that you're only using standoffs where there are grounded screw holes in the board.
