I got a new Thermaltake Black Gaming Tower XaserV Series WinGo Full-Tower Case, Model "V7000A"
and now I cant seem to get it to start. Everything worked fine in my old case, it was just too crammed. The weirdest thing is that when im plugging the power into the motherboard, if I put the plug in just a little bit the fans will start to run, and sometimes even the processor heatsink. Since this happens i wouldnt think that either my motherboard or power supply are bad, and im sure I have the power switch in right (connect to the motherboard, the switch fell out of the case and is near impossible to get back in the tiny spot) and I'm out of ideas. The Power Supply only connects to the Motherboard with the 1 big plug right? Well that and the fan. Is there any plugs that would need to go to the power switch or something somehow? Thanks in advance.

No plugs need to go TO the psu. They all come from the psu

There may be a 4 pin connector which connects to the mobo in addition to the regular 12 pin connector, even so it is unlikely that this is your problem.

Sounds like the power button is in the *on* position if just by connecting the 12 pin connector the mobo/fans etc power up. If stuck in the on position it will power back down after a few seconds. I,e., no boot.

You may wanna disconnect the power switch and start it manually. Use a screwdriver or paperclip to short the pins (power button) for a second to manually start it up.

Good Luck with it.

I dont think that is the problem. If it was stuck ON then why wouldnt the fans and stuff work when the connector is in the entire way? I really dont see how i could have possible messed up the 12 pin connector but I'm starting to think that that is the problem, either on the psu or motherboard end of it.

OK, I see what you mean now. (however it seems like you're saying above that there are probs with the power switch-that's why I suggested a manual start).

So test with your old psu, take it out of the old case and lay it next to your new one. Plug it up to the mobo and give it a shot. That would confirm/rule out a faulty 12 pin connector on the new psu.

You don't say what system your components are from, I bring it up because some systems by Dell etc use proprietary psu's. So the wiring w/b a bit different on those mobos/psu's as far as the 12 pin goes. Not likely, but just to be safe.

If the 12 pin is bad on the psu, I wouldn't think you had anything to do with it. I've received brand new psu's that were defective(half the 5v 4pin connectors were DOA).

Your "power button finger" must be fubar'd. RMA it immediately!
