ok, so my computer seems to be completly dead; power supply, fans, nothing starts up. It has been working fine for two years, but then a few weeks ago i put it into standby, came back, and it was off--and it wouldnt come back on.

ok so heres what i have:
MSI k8n Neo 2 platinum motherboard
OCZ 3200 DDR ram (2 X 512)
AMD 3200
Antec 400W/ OCZ 600W (tried both, neither worked)
6800 GT by MSI

ok, so first i thought, since nothing was coming on, it could be a psu issue. Swapped my antec 400W with the OCZ 600W and still got nothing. Second, i disconnected all my drives, gfx, ram, and just kept the Mobo plugged into PSU, and still the fans of the PSU/mobo wouldnt turn on. I tried with and without ram, but still, its completly dead.

So my question is, is my mobo dead? Even if it was, should the PSU still turn on as long as it was plugged into a mobo? Any tips on what to do/try or what could be the culprit?

Im leaning towards mobo, but not sure. Thanks in advance!

It could just be the front panel power button. What you need to try is to manually turn on the PSU by shorting the green wire and any black wire on the mobo power connector molex (20 or 24 pins). If the PSU starts then you know the PSU's are good. If the PSU does not turn on, then it could be a bad PSU or bad outlet or tripped breaker to the outlet. Next connect the mobo but this time turn on the system by using a small flat tip screwdriver to temporarily short the two pins where the wires for the power button connects. If the system turns on then the power switch is bad. If the system still does not power on, then get a paper clip to jumper the green wire with the black wire just like above except this time with the molex connector plugged in to the mobo. If the system turns on, the mobo is bad.

Before trying anything else, try clearing the CMOS by using the jumper & also removing the 3.3v battery for about 5 minutes... if that doesn't work then proceed to the PSU test mentioned above.
