I've got a Giga-byte 7DX Rev 2.2 motherboard, and it has been working fine for about 6 months. Just a few days ago, I tried to shut it off using the regular Windows 2000 Shutdown. As soon it was shut down, it automatically booted again. I even held down the power button on the case for 4 seconds (since it's an ATX mobo). As soon as I let up on the button, it booted up again. During this whole process, the monitor is in standby mode and stays black.

I kinda took apart my case and look at the wires going from the board to the power button and everything looked ok. I have no idea what's wrong! Is it something bad on my motherboard? How can I fix it? Right now, I'm having to turn off my power strip to turn my PC off every time! Please help!

Haaaa, that sounds crazy..... Your Pc reboots itself when you try to "Shutdown your PC in windows"?

#1. I would take a gander in your CMOS settings ...Maybe set everhything up as default.

#2. Did you install this motherboard or buy it from a company? Prehaps your jumper pin are set incorrect.....But you said this PC worked fine for 6 months?

Did you buy this PC, or did you build it. What operating system you using Win2000?

I built the computer and am running Windows 2000 Professional. I doubt it's anything wrong in the CMOS or physical jumper settings on the mobo because it has worked fine til now. Someone on another message board said that the same thing was happened to him and it was the power supply. Does this seem logical?
