i had two computers a dimension 8200 and a poweredge 400sc, for some reason i installed xp on the server and 2003 server on the dimension. i came to swap the hard drives and the transfer of hard drivees from the XP (2003) machine to the dimension went fine.

the other way from the dimension --> server, the new computer doesn't register the drive to start up with. it is as if the hard drive isn't there. but if i make it a slave on another machine i can see everything fine.

i am out of ideas here, any of you guys hava any help?

Did you enter BIOS and added the hard drive to the boot priority list ahead of other drives?

Good point - but it should go from one to the other until it finds a good boot drive.

It may be a conflict between cable select and a jumpered Master/Slave. Try pure CS and put the ribbon connectors on the proper drive. (Blue to Mobo, Black to Master and Gray to Slave - and set all drive jumpers to CS.)
