Computer won't power up.

Hmm Im stumped guys, my computer has been having a power problem for a month or so, if I turn off the computer, it simply refuses to turn back on and I gotta fidget with the power cords and stuff for an hour before it turns back on again.
Then one day when I left my computer on and went out, I came back to it turned off. So I try to turn it on, and it doesn't turn on, and no matter what I did with the power or jumpers it doesn't turn back on, so I figured maybe my PSU couldn't handle it anymore, since it was a antec 400W and i have a FX53, DFI UT Lanparty nF3-ultra-D, 3 harddrives, and a X800XT AGP, 1 gig ram.
So I went out and bought an Enermax 535W, and swapped it, nope, computer still won't power up.
Ok so I figured its the mobo, because I swapped in an old mobo with a xp 3500 on it and it works, wtf?
So I bought the AsRock mobo now, and it STILL doesn't turn on.
Wtf? I honestly don't know what is wrong, and I hope to god it's not actually my CPU that's messed up
Someone help me out here 🙁
 
When you say "doesn't turn on," do you mean that it's competely inert, the fans don't even run? or do you mean it doesn't display the usual POST screen and then try to boot up?
 
It's completely inert and not even the fans start up.
I've tried powering it up without CPU, with CPU, with CPU + HS, with everything, with everything but vid card, with everything but no HDs, nothing works 🙁
 
Take the motherboard out of the case, lay it on cardboard, and try it like that as a fact-finding step. This eliminates possible short-circuits with the case metal. Also unplug any auxiliary USB or Firewire outlets.

Not an anti-static bag. Cardboard. 🙂 But other than that, let me ask a dumb question: do you have your ATX12V cable connected to the motherbboard? If your video card uses an auxiliary power cable (which it looks like AGP X800XTs do), is that firmly connected too?

 
Yes both are firmly connected.
The main power plug and 12V (the four pin plug) are all plugged in. Same with Vid card power plug.
 
Do you have any other video cards you could slap into it as a fact-finding step? It doesn't have to be game-worthy, just see if it fixes the no-life situation. If not, then try just one memory module at a time. If that doesn't work, then maybe your CPU has a problem 🙁
 
Thinking outside the box for a moment here, perhaps your case's power switch is faulty?

To test whether that's the case, just unplug the case's power-button wire from the motherboard, and make a direct momentary contact between the motherboard's ATX PWR pins using a piece of metal, such as a screwdriver tip. pic of how to do it, refer to your owner's manual to be certain of which pins to hit.
 
and i've tried plugging in and old mobo with only an old CPU and HS on it, and turned it on with the switch, and it worked fine, so it can't be the switch
 
uh whoa whoa whoa wait, I have the ATX12V cable but it's a short non connected wire, on the other end there's an 8 slot plug, where do i plug that?

If your Enermax is one of the modular Liberty series, then the bigger end plugs into one of the black ports on the power supply. Otherwise, could you post a pic of that too? 😕
