So I have a well established working pc that has run flawlessly for at least 1 year no problems.
The other day, it just quit powering on. No smoke or any indication there was a problem that damaged some of the components thus preventing the PC from turning on.
I'm guessing the power supply died, or the power switch button is broken somehow... When I push the power on button there is absolutely no response. Dead as a doornail.
Anyone have any ideas why this would occur before I go and shell out $$ for a new power supply or computer case?
All cables are checked and plugged in, the power switch on the supply is on.
PSU is about 5-6 years old minimum. 600W Seasonic. Could've just died I guess.
Not overly dusty inside case.
Thanks all.
[UPDATE]
bypassing the switch on the MB didn't produce a result.
Shorting the green and black wire on power connect did turn on the PSU. All the drives and fans not connected through the MOB turned on.
Does this mean the MB is toast? Or what. I double checked all the connectors on the MB and they seem to be solid. Nothing out of place.
HELP ME.
