Computer won't post

I have an EVGA 8800 GTX

I was playing WoW, when all of a sudden, my PC just crashed

When I turned it back on, nothing is displayed on the screen. My PC is on, though. The fans are spinning on the CPU and videocard. Lights are on, CD-ROM is working.

Nothing is displayed on the screen. Not even the POST. The monitor I have is a Samsung 206BW. The ON button is blinking on and off. But if I disconnect the videocard from the monitor, it says nothing is connected to the monitor.

Is it the motherboard or the videocard? I have an Asus P5K-E motherboard.

Im using my other computer right now.

The other broken one is

Intel C2D E6600
EVGA Geforce 8800GTX
Windows XP pro SP2
Asus P5K-E motherboard
2GB RAM

I narrow it down to either the videocard or the motherboard.

If the CPU isn't working, the motherboard would still boot, right?

Uh ohes! :Q What kind of power supply do you have, by the way? That could be a culprit too. Did you get a chance to try a different high-quality PSU with adequate wattage, to rule out PSU failure/overload?

Yeah, I was thinking it's the PSU, but the LED on the motherboard is on. All the fans are spinning, but nothing's showin up on the screen.

Yeah, I was thinking it's the PSU, but the LED on the motherboard is on. All the fans are spinning, but nothing's showin up on the screen.

That doesn't necessarily mean the PSU is good, just that it can power an LED and some fans. If you have any other good PSUs, it would be a good starting point on your fact-finding mission.

no beep codes

I tried another PSU and it still does the same thing.

The monitor works, Im using it right at this moment.

Reseated videocard.

I wish I had another PCI-E videocard that I can try.

Right now, Im swapping mobos.

Let's see if this works.

Ok, just tried the motherboard and it still does the same thing. It's narrowed down to the CPU or the videocard.

I'm thinking it's the videocard. Wouldn't the motherboard beep if there was no CPU plug in?

The videocard is spinning when I turn the PC on. But nohting on the screen. Does it mean that the videocard is not the culprit? Can a videocard die on you but the fans still in working order?

Yes it can, fans spinning just means it's getting some power.
Also, as far as I know, you need the cpu to make the beeps, so no cpu=no beeps.

Without the CPU, would something still be displayed on the monitor?

Nope, no display on the monitor without a cpu.
If you're not getting any beep codes at all (and your pc speaker is definitely on, there may be a jumper somewhere)
I'd say it's your CPU.
Bad video card should give you beep codes.
