Edit: Forgot to post anything

I just got home today and as soon as i pressed the power button, I felt a little shock of static electricity. This has happened several times before, so I wasnt too worried. I left and came back expecting it to be booted up, but the monitor power light was blinking and wasnt getting a signal. I shut it down and restarted it, and the same thing happened. I tried with another monitor and still no signal. I'm afraid it might be the motherboard because normally when I power on, the CPU fan will go to maximum speed, and then almost stops itself because its the cpu's still cold according to its temp sensors. However, now when I start it up, the fan just keeps running at max speed. I'm not quite sure what the problem could be other than that though; I dont really have any spare parts to test anything other than possibly RAM (and it would be at different speeds),but I'll go poking around to see if I notice anything else that strikes me as peculiar.

My specs:
Chaintech VNF4 nForce 4 Ultra
PCI-E ATI X800XL 256 MB
1gb (2x512) PC3200 Corsair ValueSelect
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ socket 939
A couple HDD's

No beeps. The motherboard has its own little speaker on it, and it usually beeps once on startup when it does work, but now its not beeping at all.

it's a possibility (hope not) that your mobo somehow is dead from a static discharge (was it touching the case?).

I don't think it was touching the case, considering i hear that its not supposed to power on if it touches the case. I'm not sure though; it is using the spacer screws and the little plastic discs, but I guess its possible that the charge could have reached through the pci cards or something. Unless its just complete bad luck, its strange that this would happen now and not the many other times ive shocked my computer when reaching for the power button.

Edit: I've deduced that its not the RAM through switching out sticks, although I'm not sure what else I can do at this point without the help of replacement parts from a friends computer.

That's really odd when you describe sometimes you shocked yourself when you touch the power button. It shouldn't happen in the first place

Is it a safe bet that the problem is the motherboard? If so, I think I might just buy a replacement today since it seems the warranty on my Chaintech ran out a couple weeks ago :(

Thanks for the help guys.
