Computer won't post

Last night when I turned on my pc it failed to post. The monitor got no signal at all (didn't even show cmos). At the same time my DVD drive was gettin no power - the led on the front was not lit and it wouldn't open.

I did nothing to the pc - made no hardware or software changes. In trying to troubleshoot I checked the PSU. It was working fine. The power indicator showed power being received by MB and all fans and lights were working. The video card fan was also spinning. The video card was seated well but I removed it and checked it (no scorching) and reseated it - no change. I tested all the power leads from PSU and all were working.

I thought maybe this was a video card prob but the fact that my DVD also isn't working leads me to believe it's something else. Any thoughts?

my rig includes:

Abit IC7-G MAX II 875p MB
2 WD raptors in raid 0
P4 3.0c
1 gig corsair valueselect ram
Antec neopower psu (480 watts)
Radeon X800 XT AGP video card
NEC ND-3500a DVD drive

Test by elimination.

Unplug everything... All CD-Rom's, hard drives, floppy drives, etc. see if it will beep for ya when you turn it on... then try taking out modems, network cards, etc. until you find what is causing the problem.

To me - It sounds like you need a new PSU. They can stop working (Still provide enough power to turn on a fan) but not have enough power to boot the system...
