I'm having troubles getting my friends computer to post. I've detached everything except for the ram, cpu and the video card is onboard. There is no signal going to the monitor. We also tried his agp card and no go there too. Could it be a problem with the cpu or motherboard? This is a 5 year old computer, p3 500 I think. He was getting it ready to sell so he swapped the hard drives but I don't think that should have anything to do with the problem.

Thanks

I tried resetting it by taking out the battery and unplugging th psu. No luck. The battery controls the CMOS right? Or is that the BIOS? I can't get into the BIOS btw, no output to the monitor.

The battery might just control the onboard clock or perhaps both CMOS and clock. Normally there should be a CMOS jumper that should allow you to reset the settings in the BIOS on the motherboard.

I doubt this would have changed, but make sure you voltage on the back of the PSU didnt switch to like 230 instead of 115...230 will make it not post also..
