Hey

I got the parts for my new computer today and started assembling it.
When I was done with assembly I powered it on and nothing happens, I went over the most obvious connections and it looks allright. At this point I see that the VGA LED is on, but the GPU is installed and the power leads are hooked up to it.

When I read on the asus LEDs I can sometimes see 62, 79 and d0.

On one occasion it did manage to boot properly, I got the one beep from the speaker and the mouse and keyboard lit up and were functioning as was the picture, I could see that the CPU was the correct one and the amount of RAM installed was what it was supposed to be. Then I entered the BIOS and set the boot device to my external DVD rom and got a "BOOTMNG:Corrupt image file" (This is a legit W7 OEM disc).

The parts is as follows

i5 3570k CPU
Asus P8Z77V-Deluxe MB
Corsair 750W PSU
16 GB Corsair RAM
Sapphire 7970 GHz Vapor-X GPU
Intel 520 120GB SSD
Seagate Barracuda 1TB HDD

The DVD drive I am using is external and got recognized by the BIOS the one time I got there.

I have tried connecting my TV to the HDMI on the outputs from the motherboard.

Any simple fixes for this one?

Cheers in advance.

Update:

The GPU is now in my old box and seem to be working fine.

Update #2:

Turns out one of the RAM chips was the culprit, even if it did show up that one time I got it to boot.

Every time you have an issue like this, the first thing you do is break it down to the bare essentials needed for POST. Then you add components back in one at a time until you find out what's causing the problem or everything works again.

Yeah, I agree with that, but it was so odd that when it worked that once I could see the CPU/RAM and the peripherals worked and so did the video card.

What concerns me is the actual seating of the GPU as it is extremely close to the SATA hub.

Has anyone mounted this model of GPU on this model of Motherboard?
