i have an old computer, dell xps200 (pentium 200), and might i add i got it from my girlfriends parents...for free. anyways, i formatted, stuck in a windows 95 bootdisk (because i cant find a 98 bootdisk and dont know where to get it online), and i fdisked, formatted, and tried to access the cd rom to install...no beef :( it just says invalid drive name. im not a moron, i promise ;) i dunno whats wrong with it. power, ide cable, everything plugged in. it never worked before though..i mean before i formatted it. i dont understand what to do with it, im not an old hardware guy. i mean i know a little but i cant figure this one out....thx for the help

Hi
Win95 boot disks don't have CDROM drivers on 'em like Win98 boot disks...that's the problem. You need MSCDEX.exe and some generic CDROM drivers, and an autoexec.bat and
config.sys files on your Win95 boot disk to make it work. You can prolly find them on another computer, if you have access. If you can get the files, I can list you the autoexec and
config.sys files you need to make :)

grab a win98 boot disk at www.bootdisk.com
i'd suggest that you not use win2k boot disks... it takes forever when you can just boot off the cd. If your cd isn't bootable... for... some... reason, boot off the win98 and install win2k.

Monitors go pink because of a dry solder connection. Try wiggling the power connection around to see if it changes. If you want a pemanent fix you'll need to take it in for a simple repair job.

without it you won't be able to use the OS I'm afraid.
seem to recall that there were some generic keys that would work; I'll have a little look around!
