Computer won't even start loading Windows! Help!

My computer just started doing this... I turn it on, it does the memory check and then it just goes to a blank screen. Windows never starts to load... and I put my XP disk in there and tried to boot from that but it says the 'setup is detecting the hardware blah blah' then like 5 seconds later it goes black and nothing happens. Anyone have ANY idea of what this could be or how I could possibly fix it?

So it does start windows setup, just doesn't continue after the first step? Almost sounds like data corruption, although usually Windows tells you what files would be corrupted. Happened to me many times when trying to slipstream SP2 and XP Pro, I had to turn my write-speed down to like 4x from like 52x to get it to burn right.

Anyway check your bios, under boot devices, make sure CDrom is listed as one of them. Then check that it sees your CD drive.

Yeah it's done this before but it would tell me what was corrupted or the file name of it. Now its just blank. And yes it shows my hard drive and cd drive..
