Computer won't even get to a video signal...

Ok, I'll try to include all the details I can.

Dell Dimension 4400, old computer that hasn't been turned on in a few months. Finally trying to fix it for my sister. Shortly before it went belly up a few months ago, it was a Windows OR Hard Drive error that prevented it from booting properly.

Now, the computer won't even get a video signal. She replaced the hard drive in it, and since then, won't even get to the Dell Screen.

Computer powers on, the lights on the CD-ROM drives start up, but doesn't even get to the DELL screen or POST, nothing at all. (Monitor works, have tested it with a laptop.)

Tried reseating everything on the inside, CHANGED THE MOTHERBOARD BATTERY (Read on other various forums that this may be the cause). I may be able to grab another RAM stick and test it in if necessary. (Could this be a cause?)

Summary: Computer had a windows/hard drive error a few months ago, changed the hard drive, computer will not even POST. Computer electrically starts up, but nothing on the monitor. Monitor works fine. Changed Motherboard battery.

Any clues? Thanks in Advance.

Check the video cable connection. Replace cable?
Check the back panel lights. Are all four lights below the serial connector green?
Try a different AGP vid card?

Alright, we have a spare computer downstairs, I can jack that video card and attempt. Didn't look on the back panel, will look and report back. Thanks for the start!

Also, computer does not beep at all during it's startup. So, no error codes to track down :-(

Ok, so I think the entire computer is funked, and needs a new motherboard. It's possible that she fried it when she replaced the hard drive, that's the only thing that makes sense.

Don't have a spare video card to test out, but the ram swap proved nothing.

Dang it - now have to find a motherboard replacement for a Dell Dimension 4400 that will take this processor.

Dang.....it.
