Used to use sleep mode all the time but a couple of months ago once it went into sleep mode it wouldn't turn back on...I mean the computer would turn on but it would just hum like it was on as usual and I couldn't get to the desktop or anything. A pretty deep sleep. Anyways, I stopped using it a while ago, but I'd like to use it again if I could fix it. Any idears?

Either the monitor or the video card isn't comming out of sleep mode. I'd guess the video card. Try a driver update and see if that helps.

I updated the video card drivers and it didn't fix the problem. Also I noticed if I put the computer to sleep then try to activate it again right away it will come back up. But I guess if it's in sleep mode for a long enough time it just stays there.

Hummmm sounds like Vista and Nvidia at least thats what my rig pulled til I installed vista sp2 beta, even after its not 100% OS bios and chipset software are the bones of this, some PSU'S help or can hurt sleep, and as it's been said graphics card and drivers.

Get all your software up to date chipset, OS, Bios ect if it still gives ya fits it time to go to control panel select classic view find perfomance infomation open it select from tasks menue adjust power settings click create power plan follow prompts select what ya want and ta da issue gone ummmm I hope :)

One of our users is having a similar problem. When the PC goes into sleep overnight it will wake up but get no video. A hard reboot or forcing it into and out standby a few times usually takes care of it. I've swapped monitors, updated the drivers and even tried turning off standby I think our system policies just turns it right back on when she logs in.

This lady is blind as a bat so we have to keep the resolution to 1024 x 768 on her 22". We also have to use large icons. I think this may be causing the problem of the monitor not detecting a signal. Kinda strange that other users with same setup are not having any issues.
