This morning I turned on my computer and heard a wierd noise. I turned it off, and checked the video card fan. Sure enough, it was clogged with dust, so I cleaned it out, put it back into my computer, and pressed the power button. Absolutly nothing happened. no fans turned, I heard no beeps, only thing is the motherboard power indicator led keeps flashing. It keeps flashing even when the psu is unplugged and the motherboard battery is removed. My system is an athlon xp 2600 barton, abit nf7-s rev. 2, 2x512 sticks of ocz value, an enermax noisetaker 380W, and a radeon 9600xt. Please help.
edit my power switch is busted, so I have been using the reset switch connected to the power switch pins for several months.
edit I wiggled cables around and I think my reset switch is going, the computer boots again, but the video card fan makes an awful noise, does anyone have reccomendations for a replacement?

Hello Zucharn, and welcome to the Anandtech forums.

Take a look here for replacement VGA coolers: http://www.xoxide.com/vgacoolers.html If you buy one, make sure it's compatible with your card first.

Personally, I've heard the Zalman coolers are pretty good...just be sure it won't interfere with any capacitors or other parts of your video card. Also look into tho the Vantec Iceberg coolers. The Thermaltake Schooner seems interesting, and I've always found Thermaltake to be incredibly reliable, but I dunno if I'd be comfortable with a fanless -anything- :p

In the meantime, have you tried using a pen to rotate the fan backwards while it's on? In the past, that's sometimes allowed my fans to limp on forward till the replacement got in.

Goodluck, and come back if you have any more questions.
