Computer won't boot from CD?

I'm trying to install Windows Vista, but for some reason my computer won't boot from a CD. I've set my CD rom as the first boot device and I've also tried pressing ESC at the post screen and choosing the CD rom as the boot device and it still won't boot from CD, just loads Windows XP. I've tried the CD in my laptop and it works just fine... Any ideas? CD rom drive is a Samsung sata dvd burner... Rest of my specs are in my sig. Thanks in advance!

On Window Explorer do you access CD/dvd burner with dvd disc in it? if not then check with cable/sata to make sure they are attached to motherboard and see if it needs power connection to power supply unit.

Check if the CD-Drive is actually working fully, you could have a bad drive. Are you saving your bios settings? Make sure you arn't just quiting out of it.

If you have an old CD-rom laying around, you might want to use that instead. The oldies are the best some times.

Do you have more than one CD drive on the same IDE channel? FOr some reason my computer won't boot from the CD if two drives are on the same channel.

I've tried disabling quick boot, but that didn't work. I've tried installing a different IDE CD rom drive, that didn't work. I've tried installing a floppy drive and booting into MS DOS... I got into DOS mode but no command would work. Even C:\ was not recognized. The Samsung SATA drive I have works just fine when I'm in Windows. The drive even spins up when it checks for a CD during loading. I have no clue what to do.

I'm an idiot. I have my computer connected to a 47" 1080p tv. When booting up the edges of the screen are cut off, so you cant see text on the edges. Well... all I saw was "Boot CD.." but it never showed the increasing ". . . ." timer waiting for an Enter key. So I never knew to hit enter.. . . . . I need to walk around with someone whose wearing a "<------ I'm with Stupid" shirt. It was working all along! Ahh!
