Computer wont boot... dead CPU?

I decided to get my linux box back out to play around the other day, went to boot it up and nothing. Fans turn on but no bios appear. Thought it was a video card issue, tried a new card and no change. Changed the MB to a A7A266 I had laying around and still no luck (although I am not sure if that MB worked the last time I tried it)

If no Bios show up, would that indicate my CPU is dead?

Trying to get it to work on a MSI K7T Turbo 2 with AMD Duron 1100.

I have a Athlon XP sitting around but I dont think either MB is compatible from what I have read online.

Every time I've had the 'fans run but no boot' symptom, it's been a dud mobo. Maybe try a PCI video card just for grins, though.

1) Heatsink like in photo #3?

2) Got your ATX12V power plugged in?

3) Does it have the D-LED and if so, what error pattern is it showing?

4) Is J17 capped (sets 100MHz FSB, located below the DIMM slots)?

Of course, if it was working when you put it away, then . But that's my best shot. If you have another good-quality PSU you might try that too.

haha, yeah the PSU that was in it before was dead when i tried to boot it, that was the first problem, let me tell you this has been a hell of a week for things dying on me, guess they all are about that age. I took the PSU out of my old case (the one that was used like 3 weeks ago with no problems). The LED on the MB lights up, fans start but no boot. The HSF is on there correctly, and no DLED to show error pattern. And nope, J17 isnt capped.

If J17 isn't capped, you're trying to run your 1100MHz Duron at 1460MHz. Cap that jumper and try again.

that was it, thanks! for some reason I thought that jumper needed to be removed after I read the manual, apparently not!
