Hey guys, when i tried my computer out today, nothing showed up on the screen. Everything inside the case was working though, i saw the video card fan spinning, case fans spinning, zalman heatsink fan spinning, etc etc. I didnt hear hard drive tho...

Sorry, forgot to post specs, just so frustrated that i came so close =(.

AMD Athlon64 3200+ 90nm
ASUS A8V Deluxe
Antec True430
Seagate 200GB UATA 8mb 7200
BFG 6800GT

also does it matter if i use the seagate ide cable, or the via one? also i have to share my devices. Can the HD share w/ fans or the Video Card share w/ fans?

I'm going to take a shot at the easy ones first. Things people overlook a lot:
  • Improper use of alcoholic beverages, leading to them forgetting to mount the mobo on standoffs :Q Baaaad move.
  • They forget to plug in their ATX12V cable to the motherboard.
  • They forget to plug the auxiliary power cable(s) into their video card, although it looks like you got that one.
  • In your case, read the motherboard manual closely to ensure that you have the memory in the correct slots for dual-channel operation. If memory serves me correctly (woohoo, no pun intended there 😀) you should use the blue slots first. The manual says. 🙂
Go through the document I linked to, if you can't resolve the problem with the stuff listed above.

Use an 80-wire ATA cable for the hard drive and plug the colored end (usually blue) into the motherboard.

I'm in the habit of putting the hard drive on a cable that it doesn't share, although electrically it's all connected inside the PSU anyway. It's ok for stuff to share if it has to, just don't make the mistake of plugging anything but fans into the Antec's Fan-Only lines.

Take the RAM out and see if the computer beeps, if that doesn't work then reseat the mobo, and remember not to overtighten the screws. If the mobo beeps then you can at least say the processor and mobo are working and that the problem lies elsewhere. If it doesn't then reseating it might remove any shorting problems that could cause this.

also if hard drives are not needed to POST

A couple more things:

1) plug some headphones or powered speakers into the mobo's green audio-out jack. Its onboard speech diagnostics might have something to say.

2) if you have any slow-running fans plugged into the mobo's 3-pin fan headers, unplug those fans and power them straight from the power supply. This includes the PSU's own slow-running fan with its blue-&-black RPM-sensing wire. I've seen some mobos that freak out at really low RPM readings and get 😕 and won't POST for that reason alone.

Well i connected my speakers and found a "system failed, CPU Check" so ill probably screw around with that. Also my freaking zalman cnps7000a-AlCU heatsink backpalte keeps falling off. Its driving me crazy, i tightened it with the nipples, and it looks solid, and then proceed to screw in the heatsink and then after i do that the backplate just falls off. So frustrating. Please help!

Regarding the Zalman back plate.I assume you replaced the stock backplate from your MB with the Zalman.Hope you didn't overtighten anyting and strip the threads.
I just installed mine on my 3500 S939 last night and had zero problems except prying off the stock MSI Neo2 back plate was a very delicate operation.
Also do you have the "bulges" of the back plat facing outward(away from the MB)?They should be.

My threads fell out. I might have over tightened it then? Also what are the washers for? Do i need them?

One more thing, I keep getting "system failed cpu test" vocal messages =(. everything looks right except the backplate isnt on yet but the heatsink fan spins etc. Could that be the cause? The backplate? It always keeps falling off so i didnt get it on yet.

Have you even read my post? The CPU failed vocal message is because your motherboard doesn't support 90nm CPU's. The 1007 BIOS version will solve that problem.
