computer without a case

I've assembled all my spare parts and have a complete system. Only problem is no case. Is there a way to test all these parts assembled together but have no case? Like will it turn on? Is there a grounding issue with the MB and PSU? Can it be turned on with a case on/off button? Thanks for any help.

SETI Stack and Farm Systems - This should answer your question about not having a case. 😉 The Bill Taylor Stack is most similar to what I've run in my home previously. 😀

As for power on - you can use a small screwdriver to make contact between the PWR ON pins or just attach the cable from a Power or Reset switch that you pull off of the faceplate from another case front - that's what I do. As for grounding - just make sure your motherboard isn't sitting on a conductive surface(where the leads or solder points on the bottom would be making contact. Some people use the cardboard box that the motherboard shipped in, but I prefer to use a couple blocks of wood or something that isn't as easily combustible. 🙂

Man, that is the coolest thing I've seen! Thanks for the response. I don't have a power or reset switch from an old face plate, but I get the idea. I'm sure I've got some stuff to make one from. 😉

Thanks again.

Got it working. Loaded Linux on it. 🙂
