Computer Will Not Boot....HD?

Hello,

When I try to boot up the computer, it doesn't boot and display this msg: "Drive Not Ready, System Halted". I went to BIOS and found out that it was my Maxtor HD. Everything else works fine. My friends suggest changing the cable? Mine was kinda of twisted up.

Any suggestions?

Thank You

Yeah, first try adjusting/checking the cable connections to the hard drive and motherboard IDE ports. Then try a different, but known to be working, cable. Is this a freshly built system or a problem that came out of the blue? What was the last thing that you did before this problem appeared?

I think I found the cause of the error. The Stereo speakers were really close to the case. I happened to played a few loud and bass filled songs. That is probably the cause of the error because the IDE cables were loose.
