How pissed off would you be if a virus hit your computer?

It would be my own fault, so I'd probably be just mad at myself.

well, let's see... the first couple of times, I was sooooooooooo pissed, especially since they came from Kinko's. Now I am just obsessed with AV updates and Worm control. I have stopped four trojans so far this year. hopefully, they are all gone :disgust:

I pretty much avoid them because I have stuff I'm real scared of losing. Years and years ago, I got a Trojan Horse from AOL and I just felt like a tool

Ways to avoid getting a virus:

Don't run programs downloaded from an untrusted source (i.e., a company that's known to scan the stuff).

Well...that's pretty much it...There's email worms and scripts these days of course, but virii and worms and such are EASILY avoidable, you don't even need to use a virus scanner to do it (though it's still a good idea to run one).

The way I see it, the only people who are vulnerable to virii are idiots who just can't seem to understand that the .vbs or .scr file they just got in their e-mail is a VIRUS! If people weren't so dense, there would be no such thing as a computer virus. The ILOVEYOU virus? The one that brought the world to it's knees? It would have been nothing if some blonde at IBM didn't open the attachment!

DON'T OPEN ATTACHMENTS!

It would also help to not use an M$ email client.

That's right

I make backups... wait a minute, what did I say?

That's right, guys and gals, I said the magical word 'backup'. I've safely put all important documents:

- on a second HD,
- on a ZIP disk,
- on a second PC.

The only way I can lose all my data is if this room goes up in flames, so the only thing I've to do in case of an emergency (virus which can't be removed by my virus-scanner) is format the HD, reinstall the OS and get my files back from the backups I've made.

Oh, and I don't open weird emails (attachments), files from unknown sources, I don't run programs which can be possibly dangerous, etc.

If I ever did get infected by one of those 'other' viruses, Windows would probably run it incorrectly. The computer would probably crash, but see, that happens anyway so everything would be 'peachy keen' normal.
