here are the list of my parts:

CPU: C2D E6400

RAM: G. Skill 2GB

Video: EVGA 8800GTS

PSU: FSP Group 600W

Motherboard: Asus P5B Deluxe

Sound: Creative X-Fi Xtremegamer

Total(with s&h): $1,180.59

The rest of the system I already have. Monitor, keyboard and mouse, etc...

I chose that sound card because I don't want anything fancy and I'm running Vista and so far it seems like Creative is one of the few companies attempting to work with the new audio scheme in Vista.

I would appreciate everyone's comments or suggestions.

Toss the E6400 and get an E6300 or E6600. Anything in between is a waste of money for the small performance increase.

EDIT: If noise is important to you, I would suggest getting one of the Seasonic S12's instead.
