Computer Upgrade Problem

Okay...I have a problem here. I was just upgrading my computer to a t-bird ghz and msi k7t pro...now I get nothing, no signal to the monitor...nothing. This happened before because someone fried my old motherboard, but that was because he forgot to take out 2 mobo mounts, and they were touching the bottom of the motherboard. I made sure that nothing was touching it, and I just put in the chip, ram, and video, to set up the bios, and I didn't get anything. Also, as soon as I turned on the surge supressor, the computer came on...? I think that I'm just going to take it to a service place tomorrow, but does anyone have any idea why this is happening?

sorry, no clue. but i had a friend with this problem and it ended up that he just bought a bad main board that must have slipped through inspection.

No no, thats waht supposed to happen when it first gets power.

I have an A7V and when you first plug it in it turns on, and off again in about 2 seconds. It will not turn off is something is not setup right.

It's not that it won't turn off...but you have to hold the power switch for 4 seconds, I know that normally happens...because it is atx power, and until you change it in the bios, that is what it does. What I'm saying is that it gets power before I even turn it on...

Sure, it shuts off after 4 seconds of holding the power switch, but, I get not video signal at all...it's not like I'm getting a blank screen, the monitor isn't recognizing a signal...

I'll just take is somewhere today, and if they can't fix it, I don't know what I'll do...

This may sound trivial but reseat the components....maybe connections are being made...reseat the cpu, put the ram in another slot, and reseat the video card.

Got any other components you can try in it? Such as other ram, a different (possibly pci) video card.

This will help you determine your problem.

No...I don't have backup componants...I'm just going to take it to a repair shop...I'll see what they say and report back. Thanx...

Same thing happened to me and it was the power supply. Seems trivial but I am just trying to help.

I took it in, and it is being diagnosed as we speak, so I'll hear back from them in the next hour, on what it is. Then, it will be a matter of how easy it is to fix, but I probably won't get it back until Monday, because I'm going to the Purdue/ND game, so...yah. I'm lucky that my dad gave me his old laptop just a couple days ago, because I would be seriously screwed when it comes to school. Okay, thanx for the help guys, and I'll keep you posted...
