Computer troubleshooting help needed!

Ok, here is the situation:
My kids are using my old machine AMD Tbird 1.0 gHz machine.
(If you remember the old Andara GT133 deal, that's the rig! 😀)
145W PS
758 MB of PC133 ram
80GB WD HD
AGP MadDog Radeon 9250
Santa Cruz Soundcard
Windows98
Old Plextor 8X4X32 CDRW drive
DVD-ROM drive
Lan Card

Back in June, my NAV subscription ended, so no updates, but the system would still scan for existing known viruses. A few weeks ago the machine stopped working. It would boot into Windows and after loading all the icons on the desktop, the Hard Drive would load some more and then the screen would go blank (no output from Video card) and the CDRW drive light would come on and stay on.

I can boot into Safe mode all day long, and the system stays working. 😕

I ran Adaware and removed any adware (there were 160 items!). I ran Spybot and removed anything other problems.

I have tried removing the CD drives and all the peripheral cards except video, no joy.

I swapped out the Video card for another AGP card, no joy. 🙁

I swapped out the RAM, no joy. 🙁

I swapped out the Power supply for an Antec 300W PS, no joy. 🙁

I restored a GHOST image from a year ago, no joy. 🙁

Does anybody have ANY ideas?

Rotary Girter? I think you mean the Framostat?

maybe thats what it was, i know i got a printer driver stuck in one of the two... One of my buddies is telling me that the refresh rate on your monitor might have been altered not allowing to show the image correctly or at all... i've never heard of this but maybe???
