If I have my external WD drive powered on before I boot, my system will not boot and I get an error message to boot off a valid drive. My BIOS settings do not point to this external USB hard drive, but if it is powered on, it prevents my system from booting off of my C drive.
The WD drive has Dantz Retrospect backups on it (if that matters). Is my master boot record screwed up? I did recently install Acronis True Image Home, which could have changed my master boot record. I don't even know the file name or location for the master boot record (Win XP Pro).
System boots fine when the external WD drive is powered off (I do not even need to go into BIOS to change anything). Very strange. Any help???
