Computer Tools - What do you use?

Some seem to be staple items (philips screwdriver for instance).

Others tools are one off uses (how many times do you need a heatsink removal wedge/wrench thing from older CPUs?!?).

So which tools do you find you absolutely need to keep in your repertoire at all times?

Which do you just throw into a storage bin and never see again?

And what do you store your "go to" tools in? Box, bag, premade kit, suitcase, paper sack...?

I store my computer tools in a small electrician's toolbag.

I always keep:

#2 phillips
a set of smaller screwdrivers (phillips and flat) in a zippered case
wire cutter (for cutting zip ties)
a verbatim backup drive (relatives never have one handy)
zip ties (2 sizes) and stick-on bases
mini-mag flashlight
forceps (for digging loose screws out of the small places they always settle in when I drop them)

Razor blades, 91% alcohol are usually on hand somewhere but the alcohol bottle doesn't fit in the bag.

Fun thread!

Interesting topic!

Regularly and semi-regularly used:
- Definitely a Philips screwdriver. I have one that has a magnetic tip for those hard to reach screw holes.
- Coffee filters + thermal remover/cleaner + arctic silver.
- Cans of air.
- Ubuntu CD, and Ubuntu installed on a USB stick.
- Spare PATA/SATA/network cables.
- Spare keyboard + mouse.
- External CD/DVD drive.
- Twisty ties.

Rarely used:
- Pliers. Two case fans I bought used rubber things instead of screws.
- Velcro.

And I store my stuff in a couple of drawers. If I go over to a friend or relative's house, I usually bring just the Ubuntu stuff + my laptop.

A magnetic philips screwdriver is indispensable. That and a small electronic toolset which has a bunch of smaller screwdrivers.
