Computer-to WS Tv output problem

I have this problem, I have a 57" panasonic WS television. My computer is using a Visiontek Geforce4 128meg graphics card. I am trying to get my computer to output to my TV for movies. However when I transfer it over the image is very distorted with lines going all across it. I then changed the output TV resolution to 640x480 however, at the top of the screen it rolls into the resolution then distorts out. I am unsure as to the nature of this problem I tried different cables but that does not seem to fix. Anyone have any ideas?

Sounds like your TV is progressive scan, but the TV output on the video card is interlaced as analog TV signals are. That's my guess but I don't know much about these things. The lines across it certainly sounds like the interlace lines.

What do you mean it worked? Your video card's TV port isn't going to output progressive scan, so if your TV can't accept interlaced and display it properly, you're screwed. At least, as far as I know.

What input are you using now (composite, component, dvi, or s-video)? You need to know your television's capabilities if you want to run dvi or component, and you need a system capable of outputting in that format. I can't help too much, but try these guys.

They can help I'm sure. If you're just running an S-Video or composite, something's not right that's beyond my ability to diagnose.
