I was having problems with my system, so I took it apart, and reassembled it from a bare system (video card, CPU and MoBo), all the way back... but now, my previously functioning DVD+RW (NEC DVD RW ND-3520A) is malfuntioning.

When I put in a blank DVD+R disk... it thinks it's only a blank CD.

Any ideas on what's going on?

i use nero... but even using windows xp to write files to a blank disk, it won't work. nero doesn't even recognize that the dvd-rw drive can even read blank dvd+r disks...

i don't understand what's going on

Eh I wouldn't be too worried. If it's just windows explorer labeling it as a blank CD, then that's just windows being windows (this happens to me too, I don't know why). But if you're trying to burn something on the disc an the program you're using recognizes it as a blank CD, then you have a problem.

EDIT: ok, after seeing your new post, it seems there might be something wrong with the drive. If you have another computer you can try the drive in, I would do that. Otherwise, I don't really have any idea what the problem could be.
