My computer has been freezing up lately, and I don't know why. When I reboot afterwards, I get multiple message boxes that say "The system has recovered from a serious error." I haven't installed any new hardware. Does anyone know what's wrong and what I can do to fix it?

This is the error signature:
BCCode : a BCP1 : 00000166 BCP2 : 00000002 BCP3 : 00000000
BCP4 : 804E59C3 OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 2_0 Product : 256_1

The files included in the erro rreport are:
C:\DOCUME~1\Buddy\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER0724.dir00\Mini071506-01.dmp
C:\DOCUME~1\Buddy\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER0724.dir00\sysdata.xml

Thanks!

  • Freezing sometimes occurrs when the system partition of the hard drive has less than 8% free space.
  • Heat could cause the system to freeze. (hard drive, CPU, motherboard)
  • Hardware driver conflicts could also be the culprit.
