I turn my computer on, everything looks fine if you're just looking at the tower. But when you look up, the monitor light is a constant orange, so you push the power button on the monitor and it DONT even turn off! It remains a constant orange. The keyboard lights, and the mouse do not have any light coming through.. and the computer hasn't been moved around in over a week. Any ideas?

Ok I tried a few things.

1. I moved the computer into another house and tried it. No Luck.
2. Used new monitor, no luck.
3. Same thing happens without a keyboard or mouse plugged in.
4. The computer's fan's and everything turns on the tower itself (Fans, lights).
5. Unplugged all power cords inside the computer, changed wire configuration, no luck.
6. Unplugged ram sticks and video card, inserted them again firmly. No luck
7. Tightened everything else.
8. Co2 dusted all the dust off all components, no luck

I am now stuck with this 300mhz dial up computer junked at a friends house.. and if you know what I could do, or what the problem is definatly...please let me know.

How can I be certain of this? I need to be sure because I need to know what I need to buy and if I need to buy a new motherboard then fine, but if that isnt broken, then I'm screwed.

Also, would it be better to call MSI and pay them to fix it? Or better off getting the 70 dollar motherboard from newegg again? Also, if I got a new motherboard, if I spent a little more money on a 754 motherboard, what could I get that would improve preformance?

My current one: Link

Sould I get a 939/754 combo so when I upgrade to 939 CPU? Or something else? Remember, I need to be certain of this. I do have another computer running the same hardware, and I can try to dissconnect that and plug it into mine. Do I need to dissconnect my CPU and put it in there too? Or is it safe to plug all my things into that mobo and just leave the CPUs where they are? I'll just switch mobo's and I'll see. But otherwise, just my other questions is what i really want to know.

This might sound rediculous, but it happened to me. If your not getting POST beeps, but everything is powering up fine, check the CPU. Specifically make sure the heatsink hasn't pulled it out from moving it. I actually had my Giga-byte 3D Rocket Cooler Pro pop out the CPU partially out of the socket in the Spring. It looked fine, but when I looked closer the heatsink was titled down and I could see that the CPU was partially out. Beyond that, a bad mobo would be the other issue. When you aren't recieving POST it means the motherboard isn't functioning enough to even check the essential hardware. A missing CPU will have the motherboard do nothing. Check it. Sorry can't be much more help beyond that.

I had this exact problem with some cheap total crap PSU once, which I had been expecting to fail easily from the moment we got it (it came with a $60 case :p). Anyways, it turned out the problem was that the 3.3v line had completely died. I swapped the PSU with a new one, and all was good again! If I put that old PSU in, all the fans, HDD etc turn on, but no picture, light, beeps... nothing.
