Computer stalling

My computer just likes to stall for periods of times and do nothing. It doesn't last long, but it's happening more and more lately. Like i'll click on IE, nothing will happen, then 10 seconds later IE will show up. What's a good way to fix something like that?

Spyware? Virus? Sounds a bit like it. Check out the spyware/hijack sticky thread in the software - apps forum..good links for adaware and spybot.

Doesn't seems like it'd be spyware or virus, i run spybot and adaware pretty freqently, also i'm running Norton Antivirus 2004 whenever my comp is on.

Doesn't just happen with IE either, that was just an example. Sometimes i'll even click the start menu and it won't pop up for like 10 seconds.

Try it in safe mode. It is probablly norton.

I quit using Norton because it was doing that very thing to my rig. Ditch it and use a free AV.
