Computer speakers (Z-560s) broke, what now?

Hey guys...

I've had my Logitech Z-560 speakers for over a year now (thanks to a great Hot Deal last January) and I've had them running beautifully since then. But last Saturday I left some music playing when I went out for the night, and when I came back they were off. I thought nothing of this and went to bed. I woke up and tried to turn some music on, but the speakers wouldn't power on. I tried everything I could, checked every connection, to no avail.

Like most computer speakers I've owned, the Z-560s work by having the subwoofer plug into the wall power outlet, and having all of the speakers and control unit plug into the subwoofer. I examined the subwoofer and found a fuse hatch. I checked to see if the fuse was blown, and sure enough, it was. I went to Radioshack to get a replacement fuse but they didn't have the kind I needed. Yesterday I tracked down the kind I needed at a local electronics store and prayed that replacing the fuse would fix my problem. It didn't. I replaced the fuse, plugged the sub in and *BANG*, blew a new fuse. Tried again, *BANG*, same thing. I figure there must be a short or something similar in the subwoofer unit.

My question is, what should I do now? I don't think the speakers are under warranty anymore, and I really don't want to buy a new set because I'm pretty darned sure the only thing wrong is with the subwoofer unit. Is there someplace I can have them fixed? Would calling Logitech be a good idea? I've never dealt with a company on an out-of-warranty product, but I'd like to hope that they'd be helpful. Anyone have any experience with something like this? I don't run my speakers extremely loud so I don't think I was running them at a dangerous level.

Thanks for any advice. Back to my (ICK) headphones

Well check to see whether or not its still under warranty. Second if you can double-check with Logitech tech support to verify its a fuse problem. Then see if you can get the correct type of fuse. Careful with the information you disclose to them cause if they figure out you've replaced the fuse yourself it could void warranty. If you can't its going to cost extra $$$ to send it in and get it repaired.
