Okay guys,

I just bought some more graphics intensive games, and my system isn't cutting it.

I've got a pretty good system, so this doesn't really make sense.

I'm just guessing that my computer hasn't been optimized for these games.

So, does anyone have a good system optimization program?

BTW: I've disabled alot of the start up programs and formatting isn't an option.

Yeah, we'll have to know this, but also what the settings available for the game are, as well as the settings you have on your video card (mostly Direct3D and possibly OpenGL if you're playing an older game).

Also, check to see that your drivers are all updated and such. 🙂

Boot into Safe Mode, Command Prompt Only option. Then type format c:\

Oh and make sure to have your Windows disk.

The best way to a fast computer starts with your Windows installation.

Fresh install on a clean format with somewhat large block size, install service pack(s), install chipset drivers, install directx, install gfx drivers, install other drivers *all without being connected to the 'net*, then get rid of all the crap programs and tray icons, install a firewall then connect back to the internet, install the rest of your patches, defrag, THEN install your game.

Put AT LEAST another 256MB of memory in that thing (preferably more), and make sure you don't have any spyware/viruses/malware running. When you play the game, make sure you don't have extra applictions running that you're not using.

If you are running Windows XP, turn off the eye candy like scrolling menus and such.

But the ram is most likely the problem.

[parrot] More ram for sure, turn off AA(AF shouldn't cause much problems), lower resolution. As others asked: What games? What resolution are you using?

Using 4x AA with a 9600 is your problem. I dont think I would run UT 2004 at 1024*768 with 4x AA let alone games like Far Cry.
