i love this prog.. maxmem from analogx.com. most os dont clean up after progs quit (although i hear xp does this pretty well) so maxmem periodically sweeps your ram and frees up more space. good stuff. anyway thats what i think is wrong.. i always ask this but whens the last time you defragged? or reinstalled windows?

After tht 800MB file transfer, try some memory optimizer prog to unloads unnecessary memory hogger. Then runs some game or other prog...c if its still laggy.
