Almost to a crawl, if I use explorer or Powerdesk to search for files, I can't really do anything else, without a looooooong wait involved. I tried reinstalling the Nforce drivers, both with and without the SW-IDE, didn't make a difference. Have 1 HD in my system (SATA) don't notice the system running poorly, or any problems besides this. It's annoying. I was searching for an mp3, and tried to open Nero, it took a good minute to open nero fully.

specs

Athlon 64 3200+
512 megs Corsair (2.5-3-3-8)
Western Digital 320 gig SATA
Windows XP Professional.

checked what was running, tried killing google desktop and a few other processes, nothing helped. any ideas?

It's pretty hard to do any multitasking or even file searches with only 512MB of ram. You should have at least 1-2GB for a nice system like yours.

true, but it shouldn't take minutes to open a program that normally opens in 11 seconds. I also noticed last night when I was printing it would stop completly while I was trying to copy files. There must be something wrong with my Windows install.
