I buy a 80$ PSU 500w, still same problem. Well over 7900GTX minimum.
PC case has been open for a few days, still locks up. If I am on the internet simply browsing, it hardly ever freezes. Only when PC is under strain. It could happen at startup when PC has been off over 20 hours, it could happen in 4 hours.. Theres no telling when it will do it next.
Um, you just said you replaced your 400watt psu with some noname brand 500w PSU? Look, just because it has more watts, doesn't necessarily make it better. If you want to eliminate all possibilities of issues, get a high end 500watt PSU, going from a mediocre/underpowered PSU to a crappy higher wattage PSU won't help you at all, it just gives you a false sense of what is going wrong. $80 for a PSU that is 500 watts is screaming problems, also just because it's new, doesn't mean it isn't garbage out of the box.
haha, just noticed this little gem
"ASRock 939Dual"
Yeah, what I think you should do first to save you the hassle is change out the power supply with a high end 500 watt, try seasonic, I would recommend antec but people have been getting issues with them so... :/ Also might want to consider PCPower and Cooling. Don't scrimp on the PSU. Next item you need to check assuming of course you've replaced your current PC with a decent one is to check the motherboard, as I see you've scrimped on another very important component as well.
List of things not to scrimp on, ever.
Power supply
Motherboard
Memory
Everything else can be cheap as you'd like it, though avoid no name video cards etc.
