Three times in the last 2 days my cumputer just turns off while I'm using it. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this, and how I could fix it.
I have ASUS...Probe v2.23.01, which while using my computer has popped up on my screen saying "usb overheating" or "out of threshold" than after awhile it goes away, but it's been doing this since I down loaded it, about a year ago. I just figured it's a flaw in ASUS Probe, does anyone have ASUS Probe v2.23.01 that this has happened to.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

What exactly are you doing when it crashes?

Go to Event Viewer and see what it says. It may have some info about the error that you can copy here or search on MS.

A couple of ways...

Start--> Control Panel--> Admin Tools--> Event Viewer

Check the Application or System sections for Events marked with a red X. Look for one at the exact time/date that your crash happened. Double click on it. Hit the copy button, and paste it back in here (and feel free to click the MS link if there is one).

I went to event viewer and clicked on the tab that sayes "system" and I only saw one red X and it wasn't the right time. It happened to me again on 2/22/05 about 10:00am, and I wasn't doing anything with the computer it was sitting idle, it just shut off like someone pulled the plug. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

I turned on my computer today (2/24/05) and after being on it for about 40 min. The Asus Probe v2.23.01 popped up and the CPU Temperature Threshold reading was 77c and blinking "CPU Overheating" than my computer just turned off.
So nexdt time I turned it on I looked in the Asus Probe to see what my settings were, here's what I found...
Settings: CPU Temperature Threshold 72c
MB Temperature Threshold 75c
CPU Fan Threshold 600 rpm
Since I've had the computer 2 years now, the Asus Probe Always popped up warning me about overheating and a few other warnings, but the computer never shut down on me, so I thought the Asus Probe had a clitch in it. I also noticed that I don't have a Power Fan, or a Chassis Fan, I noticed this because the Asus Probe has blank readings for them.
I hope this information is helpful in finding out whats wrong with my computer. Thanks again for your time and help,
Lokey
