computer shuts down while playing pc games

Hi everyone, I have an enormous problem: my computer shuts down while playing Tom Clancy´s "EndWar" and "Rainbow Six: Vegas" without being overheated or for no apparent reason after 15 to 40 min. If somebody knows anything, PLEASE HELP !!!

Most likely the PSU is overheating. Remove the side of the case, point a fan at it, and play a game. If it doesn't shut down (or takes longer than usual) it's definitely heat-related.

not necessarily overheating. he might just not have enough juice in it to power everything while playing games.

what kind of power supply you have, OP?

Yes but a PSU can put out more power if you can cool it down. That's why the cheap PSU's that are $30 for 600W are only rated at 600W at 65F but once they go up to 95F their output drops to 350W.

You need to disable automatic restart on hardware failure if you are using windows 7. This will give you a blue screen with a message. Write down the letters and numbers and google them. It will likely help point you in the direction of what is failing.

You need to tell us what your system is, if this problem is recent, and any changes you have made recently.

We need more details. What do you mean by "shuts down".

does it reset? does everything just completely power off? or does the game quits to desktop ? does windows shutdown?

did this happen before?

I just had to swap out my secondary comps psu with a spare i had. would stay up forever if just running or just average net stuff but go into gaming and it would crap out in a matter of moments. first place i'd check.
