Computer shuts down on its own

I'm not sure what forum it goes so I will put in hardware and software.

A computer with a PIII 650MHz cpu, 128 meg PC100 ram, Asus P3B-F mainboard, CL 16 bit sound PCI, Lucent 56K v.90 modem, Netgear NIC, Plextor 8x 4x 32A CDR, Hitachi 10x DVD,
Guillemot 3D Prophet SDR video, running WIN98SE, Will just shut down on its own. First the computer wouldn't shut down.

Would anyone have any clues?

try the ms patch for shutting down, then come back and let us know if the problem continues.
