I've been having a problem with my comp, occasionally I hear a cracling sound and it just shuts down like someone pulled the power plug,is my power supply going bad?I've checked all my cords everything seems ok,havent installed any new devices for some time either.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Thanks

I would check to make sure all of the cards are seated firmly. Secondly, take a look at all of the capacitors on the motherboard. In the past few years there have been a number of bad components being used in the construction of the motherboards that have caused problems. If you have any discoloured or what looks like leaking capacitors that may be the problem. Otherwise, your first guesstimate of a bad power supply may be correct.
