You can never have too many screws...

wow...

I had a big static bag full of assorted screws.. I swear it was a huge bag and must of weighed about 10-15 pounds of just ever screw imaginable saved up from back to 286 days. Mostly new case parts tho. I guess I should have saved them didn't think these were so expensive! Sigh........ Sent them to the goodwill from the last move since I no longer am in the computer field.

When I used to work at computer shows, at the end of the show, there were always PILES of screws lying on the table/floor afterwards, from the computer builders. I used to scoop them up, until I noticed another vendor that sold little packets of screws doing the same. I didn't want to steal his bread and butter, so I let him have them. I've got a nice little sorted collection now, although I could always use some more.

I have a huge collection of computer screws, but not so many thunb screws. The thumb screws are a hot deal, IMO.

Don't know if they'll ever get them back in stock, but SVC had aluminum thumscrews for $0.99 10-pack. Would end up a bit more than DX shipped, but these aluminum thumbscrews are IMO much better than those steel ones in that they are easier to work (bigger diameter and not as slippery) and look better.

Geeks.com used to have (can't find them anymore) bags of misc case screws for $0.99.

IMO the most valuable items from DX are the brass motherboard standoffs because some cases don't come with enough. The screws can be had for free (sometimes) from your local mom/pop computer shop.

The OP should have provided full disclosure in his "Hot Deals" post.

Thank you esquared. 🙂

I bought a ton of those back when they went on clearance. I don't recall exactly, but they may have been $0.50 per pack originally. Or maybe not.

I bought several dozen of both the green- and red-tinted ones, and to date, I haven't managed to sell ANY of them at the local flea. I guess no-one wants thumbscrews? I gave a bunch of them to a friend of mine, and I use them on all of the computers that I build. Very convenient, IMHO.

Well, maybe you can break them up and sell them in four or six packs (typically what a case needs for side panels) for $2.00 shipped? That should cover your cost, the cost of two stamps and a small padded envelope and Ebay/Paypal rip^H^H^H er, fees.

What were you trying to sell them for?

Thanks for the links.

I have not had to purchase any screws yet. I'm such a pack rat that I should have screws for any need that arises.

I remember working at a job where we configured systems and every body came to me when they needs screws, jumpers or cables. 🙂

The prices with free shipping are not bad, not great either, unless you don't have a store around that sells screws in packs like this. My local store here sells 50 packs of the same kinds of screws for the same price (shipping not factored). So if you can find a local store, you might find better prices. But this deal is good for those who don't.
