Question Computer screen goes to no signal randomly

Out of the blue my whole computer monitor screen goes black then says no signal. Why? What could be the issue?

It can happen at any time.

Demanding and not demanding times.

Also my fans go really fast or spin really fast after the screen goes black and says no signal

I do you a pcie riser cable / extender for my gpu. Did read those can cause issues but never had it happen previously when using it.

You know the drill; full system specs. I'd DDU the graphics drivers and install whichever version last worked properly if you can remember. If that doesn't fix it, remove the riser and see if it still happens.

Can't hurt to flash the latest bios. Reseat everything, and be ready to use a different PSU to troubleshoot it out.

Ok I could still hear a game on my computer after the computer screen goes to no signal randomly.

So thinking it is the video card or riser

Though right now after testing my old backup video card no issues so far.

I just found out the riser is Gen.1 x16 pcie

So is it still possible the riser?

The main video card is a RTX 4090 and I know this limits the speed a lot.

You need a Gen4-compliant riser. $$$

Or Gen3-compliant, $$, and limit your PCI-E speeds for your primary slot to PCI-E 3.0 in BIOS.

Just go into your BIOS and set your primary PCI-E slot to 1.0, see if it works for now.

Won't cost you any $$$, just 5 min of your time.
