Well, we need some activites for my HS ACM club. So far, we are going to start Flash and get into scripting with it because it's something everyone is equally handicapped at. Then we were thinking on moving to GUI + Graphics programing in Java since they normally don't have enought time to do that because of our 24 weeks per class system.

Any other things that would be simple but fun? I would prefer something related to Java since we could tap the base of CS classes here that use Java.

Thanks :)

I wish :(

Why not? Grab some surplus machines ... and BTW, lots of companies donate end-of-life desktops to schools and such. Ask around. My company is replacing up to 700MHz machines this year, and just dropped a truckload of old hardware off at a local school a couple of months ago. (I got a 1GHz ... gotta wait till next year :( )

It's a good opportunity to learn somethings about Linux, networking, distributed programming, etc.

I'll look into it, but I think the issue might be space, electricity, care.

Thanks BTW :D

Get to know more about Unix or Linux environment is a good starting point. VI is a good editor tool to learn for Linux enviornment. You'll hate it at first, but eventually, you'll love it when you realize how powerful it is.

Anyway..., maybe you can look into Solaris 10 Unix operating system from Sun. They're giving that out for free.
